Lithuania Ranked First in the Baltics in Knowing Foreign Languages


According to information published by the statistical website OneEurope, Lithuania is ranked second among European countries and first within the Baltic States in knowing foreign languages. Based on the stats, 97% of working Lithuanians between the ages of 25 to 64 speak at least one foreign language.


Lithuania came second to Luxembourg, where 99% of working citizens are able to communicate effectively in more than one foreign language. Third place belongs to another Baltic country, Latvia, where 95% of working people speaking at least two languages. Estonia took the third pot among the Baltic countries with 86% of working citizens able to speak a foreign language, together with their native Estonian. The average rate of the multilingual individuals across 28 European Union Member States is 66%.
